Lourdes Pilgrimages France
  About Lourdes Pilgrimage

Lourdes is a small beautiful town, located in the foothills of the French Pyrenees.  In 1858 Lourdes became known in France after the apparitions of the Virgin Mary took place. The Marian Apparitions were witnessed by Bernadette Soubirous, a peasant girl who was later canonized by the Roman Catholic Church. The Virgin Mary appeared in 18 occasions to Saint Bernadette. Since then, Lourdes has also been credited with many miracles and healings. More than 5,000,000 pilgrims and tourists come to Lourdes every year.

During your visit you will stay in one of the great historic hotels facing the Sanctuary, where you will be greeted by a welcoming and friendly staff and dine in authentic French Basque Cuisine.

A special guide will you introduce you to the Sanctuary of Notre-Dame of Lourdes. Here you will visit the Sanctuary Church, where some of Saint Bernadette’s relics are buried.   The Church is close to the Grotto where the apparitions took place and where you can hear daily Mass in different languages. Next you can join the line of pilgrims and visitors waiting to bathe in the healing waters emanating from a powerful water spring. You can also attend a mid-day international Mass in the Sacristy of St Pius X Basilica, which takes place during various days of the week.

During your stay you will also visit Lourdes’ historic Castle which overlooks the town, follow the Scenic Path of Bernadette and visit the home where she once lived.  Every evening you may choose to enjoy an early dinner followed by and evening outdoor Mass at the Sanctuary. Then join the large international group procession which takes place very night, and makes for a wonderful way to end your daily spiritual experience.
